George Sherman VanCleave Jr., 76, of Baker City, Oregon passed away on February 19, 2019, near Unity, Oregon. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds, North Sister Building, 3800 SW Airport Way, Redmond, Oregon.
Sherman was born on March 19, 1942 in Salem, Oregon to George Sherman VanCleave and Doris Winifred (Fox) Ricketts. He attended and graduated from Salem High School. On December 13, 1975 Sherman married Vicki McNulty in Powell Butte, Oregon.
After receiving Office Equipment Sales and Service training, he worked for over 35 years as an office equipment sales manager. He worked for Xerox Corp., 3M Corp and was an office equipment sales business owner with his wife Vicki.
Sherman enjoyed camping, hunting, nature and ATV riding with family and friends. He spent over 10 years as a Deschutes County Fair Director working with commercial vendors. Sherman was always eager to help family and friends and could be counted on when needed.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki VanCleave of La Grande, Oregon; daughters, Tara VanCleave Hett of La Grande, Oregon and Jennifer (Brian) Cunnington of Tri Cities, Washington; daughter-in-law, Amy Michelle VanCleave; grandchildren: Rylan Allen Hett, Rauri Dawn Hett, Benjamin Tyler VanCleave, Reagan Federico and Bella Federico; brothers, Donald VanCleave and Duane VanCleave; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George VanCleave and Doris Ricketts; infant son, Darin Dale VanCleave; son, Tyler Sherman VanCleave; granddaughter, Calli Renae Federico; sister, Sharon Ransom; and brother, Kenneth VanCleave.
