Aidan Kuhl, 28 years old passed away peacefully in his home in Pocatello, Idaho on February 16, 2023. He was born October 4, 1994, to Michael Kuhl and Misty Dennis Town. Aidan attended Baker High School, though he moved to Portland, Oregon then Kuna, Idaho during his senior year in 2013. He worked very hard to graduate and received his diploma in Kuna from Initial Point High School.
Aidan was very devoted to whatever he put his mind to. One of his greatest joys came from skateboarding, which he didn’t try until he was 13 years old. He received a bike for his 13th birthday and loved riding it until it was stolen a couple of months later. Without a bike to ride he took up skateboarding. He surprised his family with his passion and tenacity for learning how to skate and perform tricks. By the age of 14, he was skating off roofs and wouldn’t stop until he landed every trick. Years later he would say he’s grateful his bike was stolen or else he wouldn’t have become a skateboarder. Always the patient big brother, he taught his younger siblings how to skateboard and frequently took his baby sister Anava, to the skatepark with him when she asked. Aidan was sponsored for skateboarding in 2019.
He was so kind and gentle but was always one to stand up for people who needed it. Aidan was brave and loved trying new things. He went skydiving by himself on his 22nd birthday because his whole family was to chicken to try it. That’s the way he was. He didn’t let life or other people get in the way of things he wanted to do or things he believed in. His bravery, strength of heart, sense of humor, and unbending will are just some of the things about Aidan that his family and friends will miss.
Diagnosed with schizophrenia at 19 years old, things were difficult for Aidan at times, but he was determined. He lived, he loved, he made art and music, skateboarding videos, and he laughed and smiled. He never complained. He made his life his own and all those closest to him will forever be grateful for and inspired by his lessons of overcoming hardships and making the most of the time we are given in this lifetime.
Aidan will always be sorely missed. He is survived by his parents Michael Kuhl and Misty Dennis Town, his younger sisters Ailah Kuhl, Aeris Kuhl, and Anava Kuhl-Rea, and younger brother Anoah Kuhl, step-sisters Katelyn, Kenzie, and Kristie Town, and his dog Smoky. As well as the many other family members and friends who hold Aidan in their hearts and memories.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Carl Town, his Grandfather Glen Dennis, Great-Grandmother Jarol Shanklin, and his Great-Grandparents Claude and Ernestina Spivey.
A memorial contribution fund has been set up through GoFundMe to help Aidan’s family during this devastating time. Those wanting to contribute towards Aidan’s memorial may do so through https://gofund.me/c7b50558 or through Gray’s West Pioneer Chapel.
