Joyce Elaine (Mebs) Berryhill

Joyce Elaine Berryhill, 82, of Baker City, passed away March 24, 2023, at Settler’s Park Assisted Living Community in Baker City with her loving daughter by her side.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel. Pastor Lennie Spooner will officiate.

Joy was born on September 6, 1940, in Pennsauken, New Jersey, to Clarence and Catherine Mebs. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Columbia School of Nursing and a Master’s degree in nursing from Idaho State University.

Joy spent the majority of her nursing career in Home Health and, before her retirement, she was a school nurse in Idaho.

After retiring, Joy volunteered at the Compassion Center in Baker City, where she impacted many lives of families. She was also very actively involved in the completion of the Powder River Pavilion at the Geiser-Pollman Park. Joy was always a believer in helping others whenever possible.

Joy loved to travel. Joy and Jill went on several cruises together, snorkeled the Barrier Reef, rode a yellow banana in Cabo, and went para-sailing in Mazatlan. She was always up for fun and adventure.

Joy is survived by her two children, whom she was very proud of, Jill Welter and her husband, Todd, of Baker City, Oregon, and Brock Berryhill and his wife, Jenny, of Scobey, Montana. Joy was incredibly blessed with five grandchildren; Kaitlyn Johnson, Quinton Johnson, Ainsely Berryhill, Evelyn Berryhill, and Baylor Berryhill. All of whom she will continue to guide from above.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray Berryhill. Ray and Joy would’ve been married 58 years on May 29. What a celebration in heaven that will be!
